Cassava Cat Litter: A Sourcing Guide for B2B Buyers

Cassava cat litter is a plant-based clumping litter made from tapioca starch, a renewable crop. It belongs to the same family as other vegetable-protein litters such as tofu and wheat, and it is valued for a fine, low-dust grain and a fast, firm clump.

European buyers are asking for plant-based litter more often. The driver is the retail shift toward natural materials and away from mineral-heavy products, not a single rule. Cassava fits that direction because the raw material is a food crop, so supply follows an established agricultural chain.

When you evaluate a cassava supplier, start from a sample rather than a datasheet. Confirm the clump firmness in your own water, the dust level after pouring, and the moisture content on arrival, because those three figures decide whether the product survives a long sea shipment and a warehouse summer.

Ask for batch-level quality documentation with the quotation and for a certificate of analysis on request. A supplier who can put a document behind each claimed figure is easier to build a programme with than one who quotes round numbers.

On the commercial side, cassava litter ships by the tonne in woven or paper sacks, and it loads alongside other litter lines in a mixed container. Tell your supplier the target market and the monthly volume and they can propose a pack size and an outer-carton count that fits your shelf and your freight.
