Cat Litter line
Corn Cat Litter
Corn cat litter is extruded from corn starch into a clumping pellet, giving a plant-based option at a lower raw-material cost than tofu or cassava. That price position is usually why buyers add it: it lets a retail range carry a plant litter entry point without moving the whole shelf up-market. The pellet clumps well, and like the rest of our plant lines it ships lighter than clay per litre. The colour is naturally pale, so it takes printed artwork well in transparent or windowed packaging. Because it shares tooling with our other starch-based lines, we can quote corn and cassava together and hold a single lead time across both. Certification and test documentation follows the same set as the rest of the plant range, including the biodegradability data that some EU markets now ask for at listing stage.
Corn litter is the entry point to the plant range, and that is a deliberate position rather than a compromise. Corn starch is a cheaper raw material than cassava or pea fiber, so the line lets a retailer carry a plant-based SKU at a price the shelf will actually take instead of pushing the whole category up-market. The pellet clumps, holds its shape when wet and lifts cleanly on a scoop, which is the behaviour a customer switching over from clay expects to find. Like the rest of the plant lines it also ships lighter than clay per litre, so the freight arithmetic does not change when you add it underneath a range.
Because corn shares tooling with cassava and tofu, it is not a separate production world. Granule size is a die setting rather than a new formulation, so a mixed plant order - corn for the entry SKU, tofu at the top of the range - is quoted as one run with a single lead time and one artwork system. The pellet is naturally pale, and that matters more than it sounds: a light granule photographs well through a windowed pack and does not fight the colour on your film. Pack format and printed copy are built to your brief in the same way as the rest of the range.
Documentation follows the plant range: material composition, heavy-metal and microbiological test reports, SDS, and the biodegradability data that listing teams in some EU markets ask for. One thing worth saying plainly at quoting stage rather than at print: corn is the price-positioned line, not the line for a deep scent range. If your plan needs four scented SKUs, build it on tofu and let corn sit underneath as the entry point. Changing that decision later means new film, not just a new sentence on the spec sheet.
